November 2007 was warm and wet.

Weather conditions across Gungahlin during November were warmer, cloudier and much wetter than normal.

Nights were rather mild, with an average minimum of 11.3 degrees; well up on Gungahlinís longer term November average of 9.4 degrees.  The warmest night for the month occurred on November 20, when the temperature was a warm 15.7 degrees, while on November 6, it dropped to a cooler 6.2 degrees.

Days were generally warm and cloudy, with an average maximum of 25.5 degrees; again well up on the November average of 23.5 degrees.  The highest temperature for the month was a hot 35.2 degrees on November 20, while on November 4, overcast skies, steady rain and fresh NW winds combined to keep Gungahlinís maximum temperature to a cool 14.4 degrees.

Winds at the Weather Centre averaged at just 2.0 km/h during November, with the strongest gust for the month 45.1 km/h from the W/NW, recorded on November 21.

As predicted in last months report, Gungahlin recorded a healthy 111.5mm of rain in November, over 15 days.  In fact, this was the first monthly total above 100mm in Gungahlin since September 2005, when 103.9mm fell.  Falls in other parts of Canberra were just as impressive, with 94.0mm recorded at Canberra AP, 127.6mm at Tuggeranong and 126.7mm at nearby Tidbinbilla.  Gungahlinís total rainfall so far in 2007 stands at 418.0mm, well up on the 337.8mm that fell over the same period last year.

Gungahlin's December:  Current indications are for a slightly cooler, cloudier weather conditions to dominate through December.  Overall, daytime temperatures should average at around 26 degrees, and nights at 12 degrees.  The good news is that rainfall prospects continue to look rather positive, as the La Nina weather pattern takes hold.  La Nina, basically the opposite of El Nino, generally creates conditions that are more favourable for above average rainfall.  Given this, there is every chance Gungahlin could receive a second month in a row with rainfall totals around the 100mm mark.
