Mild temperatures, clear skies, gusty winds and little to no rain dominated weather conditions across Gungahlin during October.

Nights were generally cool, with an average minimum of 5.7°C, up slightly on last year's 5.3°C.   The warmest night occurred on October 31 when the temperature was a mild 13°C, while on October 1 it dropped to a cold -0.2°C.

Days were pleasantly mild and mainly sunny, with an average maximum of 20.2°C, well up on last year's 19.3°C.   The highest temperature was a rather warm 28°C, recorded on October 30, while on October 14 Gungahlin's maximum reached only 15°C.

Gungahlin received 3 frosts during the month, well down on last year's 8, and there were no fogs.

As is typical for spring, winds continued to be fairly fresh and gusty during October, with winds at the Weather Centre averaging at 5.5km/h.   The strongest wind gust recorded was 59.5km/h from the W/NW on October 16.

The main feature of Gungahlin's October weather was the lack of rainfall.  Just 7.0mm of rain fell at the Weather Centre during the month, well down on last year's 49.4mm.  In fact, it was the driest October recorded in Gungahlin since records began at the Weather Centre back in 1997.  Indicating just how dry the month was, some rain fell on 7 days - proving the falls were extremely light.

Gungahlin's November Outlook:  Current indications are for a fairly warm and sunny November with temperatures, especially during the day, likely to be above normal.   Nights will remain cool and average at 8°C, while days should average at around 23°C.   Unfortunately, rainfall looks like continuing below normal, and it now looks inevitable that Gungahlin will join the rest of the region, and be drought declared by Christmas.
