October 2001 windy.

After a pleasantly mild September, conditions across Gungahlin during October were a little disappointing, with a return to cooler, cloudier and typically windy spring weather.

Nights were cool, with an average minimum of 5.3°C (6.2°C last year).   The warmest night occurred on October 24 when the temperature was a mild 13°C, while on October 20 it dropped to a cold -2°C.

Gungahlin received 8 frosts during the month (7 last year) and there were no fogs.

Days were generally mild and cloudy with an average maximum of 19.3°C (slightly up on last years 18.5°C).   The highest temperature was a warm 27°C, recorded on October 23, while on October 7 the maximum reached just 12°C.

Rainfall was down on previous months, with only 49.4mm recorded during October (67.6mm last year).   In all, rain was recorded at the Weather Centre on 10 days during the month, including a brief, but fairly heavy hail shower on October 7.
