Gungahlin recorded typical conditions during May 2018.

Weather conditions across Gungahlin during May were typical, with mild temperatures and little rain.

Nights were generally cool to cold, with an average minimum of 3.6C, slightly up on last Mays average of 3.4C.  Gungahlin's longer term May average minimum is 3.8C.  The warmest night for the month occurred on May 8, when the temperature was a mild 8.8C, while on May 17, it dropped to a cold -0.6C.

Days were mild and generally sunny, with an average maximum of 15.4C; up on last years average of 14.7C but down slightly on Gungahlins longer term May average maximum of 15.5C.  The highest temperature for the month was a warm 22.4C, recorded on May 3, while on May 11, cloudy skies and gusty NW winds combined to keep Gungahlin's maximum temperature to a rather cold 6.1C.

Gungahlin recorded 10 frosts during May and there were 5 fogs.  This compares to last Mays 14 frosts and 5 fogs.

Winds at the Weather Centre averaged at 1.2km/h during May, with the strongest gust for the month 38.6km/h from the NW, recorded on May 4.

May is traditionally the driest month of the year in Gungahlin with an average of just 25.6mm.  This trend continued in 2018 with only 17.6mm of rain falling, over 11 days.  This compares to the 44.6mm that fell last May.  Falls in other parts of Canberra were also well below average, with Canberra AP recording 17.6mm for the month, Tuggeranong 10.0mm, Melba 20.7mm and Monash 10.0mm.
