Gungahlin records a mild, dry May 2015.

Weather conditions across Gungahlin during May were generally mild and cloudy. 

Nights were generally cool, with an average minimum of 4.7°C, down slightly on last Mays average of 4.9°C, but up on Gungahlin’s longer term May average of 3.7°C.  The warmest night for the month occurred on May 2, when the temperature was a mild 9.9°C, while on May 24, it dropped to a colder -3.2°C.

Days were mild and cloudy, with an average maximum of 14.6°C; down on last year’s average of 15.8°C and Gungahlin’s longer term May average of 15.6°C.  The highest temperature for the month was a warm 22.5°C, recorded on May 3, while on May 10, cloudy skies, gusty N/NW winds and drizzle combined to keep Gungahlin's maximum temperature to a cold 10.8°C.

Gungahlin recorded 9 frosts during May and there were 2 fogs.  This compares to last Mays 6 frosts and 3 fogs.

Winds at the Weather Centre averaged at 3.4 km/h during May, with the strongest gust for the month 45.1 km/h from the N/NW, recorded on May 10.

After well above average falls in April, Gungahlin received a very disappointing 8.0mm of rain during May, over 8 days.  This compares to the 20.4mm that fell last May and Gungahlin’s longer term May average of 21.9mm. 

Falls in other parts of Canberra were also light and well below normal, with Canberra AP recording 12.2mm for the month, Tuggeranong 14.8mm and Melba 14.3mm and Monash 15.6mm.
