Gungahlin warms to mild, sunny May 2003.

Weather conditions across Gungahlin during May were pleasantly mild and sunny, with well above average temperatures, and little rain.

Nights were cool to cold, with an average minimum of 5.4°C (3.7°C last May).   The warmest night occurred on May 15, when the temperature was a mild 12°C, while on May 31 it dropped to a freezing minus 2°C.

Days were predominantly mild and sunny, with an average maximum of 16.3°C (15.0°C last May).   The highest temperature was a warm 23°C, recorded on May 6, while on May 20, rain and strong NW winds combined to keep Gungahlin's maximum to just 12°C.

Gungahlin received 5 frosts during the month (the first of the year on May 11) and there were 3 fogs.

Winds at the Weather Centre averaged at 4.1km/h during May, with the strongest gust 49.9km/h from the N/NW, recorded on May 20.  This was the strongest gust recorded so far in 2003.

Rainfall for the month was again well below average, with just 22.2mm falling at the Gungahlin Weather Centre over 10 days.

Gungahlin's June Outlook:  Current indications are for a rather mild start to winter, with warm temperatures extending well into June.
