Rain fails during warm, sunny March 2004.

Weather conditions across Gungahlin during March were dominated by warm, sunny skies, light winds and little to no rain.

Nights were mild, with an average minimum of 11.5°C, up on last Marchís average of 9.6°C.  The warmest night for the month occurred on March 8, when the temperature was a warm 17.0°C, while on March 23 it dropped to a cooler 6.1°C.

Days were generally very warm and sunny, with an average maximum of 26.8°C, well up on last Marchís average of just 23.0°C.  The highest temperature for the month was a hot 34.6°C, recorded on March 5, while on March 6, overcast skies and cool Easterly winds combined to keep Gungahlinís temperature to a cool 20.4°C.

Gungahlin received 1 fog during March, but there were no frosts.

Winds at the Weather Centre averaged at 3.6 km/h during March, with the strongest gust for the month 51.5 km/h from the N/NW, recorded on March 9.

Very dry conditions were experienced right across the ACT during March, with Gungahlin receiving just 5.6mm of rain over 5 days.  Falls were even lighter in other parts, with Canberra AP receiving 4.4mm for the month, and Tuggeranong just 1.0mm.  Gungahlinís March rain brings the total so far in 2004 to 77.5mm, well below the 92.4mm that fell over the same period in 2003.

Gungahlinís April Outlook: Current indications are for a mild to warm April, with temperatures set to be above the longer term average for much of the month.  Days should average at around 21°C and nights at 7°C.  Despite the poor March rainfall, the second half of April is looking much wetter, with falls set to exceed Gungahlinís longer term average of 37mm.
