Gungahlin records a warm, drier end to spring 2015.

Weather conditions across Gungahlin during November were generally warmer and slightly drier than normal.

Nights were mild, with an average minimum of 11.4°C; above last Novembers average of 10.7°C and well above Gungahlin’s longer term November average of 9.8°C.  The warmest night for the month occurred on November 20, when the temperature was a muggy 15.9°C, while on November 27, it dropped to a cold 4.0°C.

Days were generally warm and cloudy, with an average maximum of 25.2°C; down on last year’s very warm average of 27.3°C, but above Gungahlin’s longer term November average of 24.0°C.  The highest temperature for the month was a hot 36.2°C, recorded on November 20, while on November 14, overcast skies and cool winds, combined to keep Gungahlin’s maximum temperature to a colder 14.6°C.

Winds at the Weather Centre averaged at 2.0 km/h during November, with the strongest gust for the month 43.5 km/h from the W/NW, recorded on November 26.

After a dry October, Gungahlin recorded a welcome 60.8mm of rain in November, over 9 days.  This compares to 32.4mm that fell last November and Gungahlin’s longer term November average of 68.4mm.

Falls in other parts of Canberra were slightly heavier with Canberra AP recording 67.6mm for the month, Tuggeranong 113.8mm, Monash 95.4mm and Melba 79.5mm.
