Record broken during Gungahlin's hot, dry November 2014.

Weather conditions across Gungahlin during November were generally drier and much warmer than normal.  In fact, a new November maximum temperature record was set on 23rd, when the mercury soared to 38.3°C.

Nights were mild, with an average minimum of 10.7°C; significantly above last Novembers average of 7.8°C.  Gungahlin’s longer term November average is 9.7°C.  The warmest night for the month occurred on November 24, when the temperature was a muggy 16.3°C, while on November 3, it dropped to a cold 3.2°C.

Days were generally very warm and cloudy, with an average maximum of 27.3°C; well up on last years average of 23.3°C.  Gungahlin’s longer term November average is 24.0°C.  The highest temperature for the month was a very hot (and record breaking) 38.3°C, recorded on November 23, while on November 16, overcast skies and continuous rain combined to keep Gungahlin’s maximum temperature to a cooler 16.7°C.

Winds at the Weather Centre averaged at 2.5 km/h during November, with the strongest gust for the month 45.1 km/h from the NW, recorded on November 1.

Gungahlin recorded 32.4mm of rain in November, over 6 days.  This compares to the 79.6mm that fell last November and Gungahlin’s longer term November average of 68.8mm.  Falls in other parts of Canberra were similar, with Canberra AP recording 24.2mm for the month, Tuggeranong 36.0mm, Monash 51.4mm and Melba 32.2mm.
